There are a lot of similar blog posts out there about how to plan and decorate for a wedding on a small budget. But to be honest those solutions are not always the most attractive. But this is a trick that keeps the budget affordable and is still big on impact.

One of the most expensive décor items for a wedding are all of the centerpieces. One large floral piece for each table really adds up to quite an impressive number. One way to keep those costs down is to do one or two long tables instead of individual round ones. This will eliminate the need for multiple large bouquets and you can focus on smaller items, such as votives with tea lights, small vases, table runners etc to decorate with. Small vases means smaller buds, which is much more doable and affordable than large complex arrangements.
And instead of vases, get interesting. Use tea cups, mason jars, pitchers and anything else you can think of for flower containers. Borrow from your friend and family members, just have them write their name on a small sticker and slap it on the bottom so you know who to return it to at the end of the night. Or check out your local vintage rental shop- they will usually be cheaper than renting from florists and definitely cheaper than purchasing these items yourself.
This seating arrangement and décor plan makes it a lot easier to do your own flowers as you don’t have to have much skill to plop one or two coordinating blooms into a tiny vase or cup. Check to see if there is a wholesale flower retailer near you. Choose a simple color scheme and pick out 4 or 5 different flowers that coordinate and buy them in bulk the day before and keep them in a bucket of water over night (in a fridge if you have the space!) Then the day of have your girls or your wedding planner go to town in your reception venue. Get creative, add extra flowers to seats or pews with a little ribbon or twine, scatter petals between vases or down the aisle.
Crisp white linens, petite blooms in dainty vases and lots of glowing votives are all simple to attain and prepare on your own, and keep that wallet of yours full for that house your saving up for or the epic honeymoon you are about to venture off on.
