Escort cards and place cards are one of those details that can be crazy intricate or amazingly simple, but either way they have one job and one job only- to lead people to their seats. This is a task that is really simple to do on your own and you can keep it as simple or get as creative as you’d like.
I made my own simple escort cards using place cards I got from Staples. These are the ones that I used and they were amazingly simple to do. Just download the template from the site they state in the directions and type up the guests name and the table they will be sitting at. Get a font you like for free from dafont.com. Then load up your printer and press print! Practice a couple of times with normal paper to make sure you don’t ruin your place cards. Now bend the pages along the perforations multiple times back and forth to really ensure that when you pull apart that it tears cleanly. After bending each perforation multiple times, place flat on a clean surface and with clean or gloved hands. Now place your hands flat on each side of the perforation and push your hands down firmly and away from each other and you should end up with a nice clean tear. Then fold in half and your cards are all ready to go! Do the same for the place cards, or just let your guests choose their seats at the designated table, which is what I did to save myself some time.
Other ideas are to make little cards and tie them to a snack or a beverage such as a soda or pinned to a small bucket of popcorn. The options are endless and you are sure to find one that matches your theme perfectly! And if in doubt remember that a good old fashioned folded card does the trick just as well!
